"Put on the New Man, created in God's own Righteousness and true Holiness" (Ephesians 4:24).
More and more lately...I've had the sense of my inner man as separate from my physical being...My flesh is so burdened down with the physical and emotional ties to life...and the demands that are a part of just mundane everyday living can be exhausting...
The enemy of our soul uses the flesh to distract and destroy our conscious and most desperate needs of our spirit man...The enemy would blind us to truth, deafen our ears to truth...give us tastes of the pleasures of sin to deaden our taste for The Word of God.
So we are either walking in our flesh, according to the consciousness and dictates of our flesh...or we are walking in (with) the HOLY SPIRIT...in and with the conscious mind of Christ...seeing (having knowledge and wisdom) what is His will and purpose...hearing what is His word to us...and following Him obediently in truth and righteousness.
The flesh man can only proselytize itself...acting out, struggling in one's own strength, making commitments that usually fail, and just plain tiring of the repetitious routine of a lifeless commitment to vanity.
I love the way a Christian brother explains it...quoting
"Christianity is not memorizing certain doctrines or disseminating a systematic theology or having people repeat a so-called "Sinner's Prayer". Christianity is becoming one with a God-Man! You can have all the other in its proper place, but for too long that "other" has been offered as Christianity. And so people touch our beliefs, our doctrines, our religion, our theology, our zeal, but they do not touch a Living Christ."
We must come to learn that the New Man is the workmanship of God's own hands...It is the New Creation man...Christ becoming our righteousness and holiness. The Holy Spirit helping us to do what is impossible for flesh and blood to do...and what intellect fails to do also.
To be taught about faith in God according to what might seem logical to our own thinking or doctrine...our own interpretation...isn't always the mind of Christ...for His thoughts are not ours, and his ways are not always ours either.
The New Man becomes conscious of the right use of his will, his responsibility is to the Word that speaks within him...and the love relationship that is developing from the revelation of the person of Christ Jesus and the desire of knowing him even more...it is a decreasing of the flesh life, and the increasing of becoming one with Christ
Again, as our brother suggests... "people touch our beliefs, our doctrines, our religion, our theology, our zeal, but they do not touch a Living Christ."
I would declare also, that all is vanity and leads to death...except and encounter with the Living God, and the New Birth into Spiritual Life that only He can accomplish...he has made a way where there was no way...His promises are true...He is the Way and the Truth...
Where ever you are right now...what ever you are doing....quit trying to be your best as a human being....and become a New Man...who will be the best man...an over-comer of the endless struggle to be at peace with the lost kingdom of Self.....
Flesh and blood will not inherit the Kingdom of God..."Put on the New Man, created in God's own righteousness and true holiness." Ephesians 4:24
